Here is
a little write-up from Chet Davis
(Educational Director) about the
Casablanca Solitaire:
"Wow!
The pictures we have seen do not do
justice to this stylish new Casablanca
digital editor. It is contemporary and
elegant... and, as
Jörg Sprave, president of MacroSystem
worldwide,
commented in the interview, affords the
professional editor a tool that will
show stylishly in their editing suite;
the customer seeing clearly that this is
not just like the computer they have at
home to do their other data tasks.
The
feature sets that were so cool: the 3.2
Ghz processor rendered very fast! This
coupled with the background rendering
function...whoa! You turn on the
background rendering function in the
System Settings window, then when you
apply an effect it begins instantly to
render. I then went back to the Edit
screen and was working on another part
of the project and looked up to see it
was complete - very cool!
The HD
Backup function is also very useful,
providing a mirror back-up of your HD
complete with effects, etc. It will
afford every editor the ability to
archive and protect their important work
and then restore if they find themselves
needing it!
The
SCART jack provides the option of
selecting either RGB or YUV output for
those who find that option useful. I
love the Disk Transfer option as well -
the ability to select scenes from your
Scene Bin and export via DVD Arabesk 2
to a DVD as an AVI-DV file. This opens
up greater levels of communication
between Casablanca and PC/Mac computers,
as well as a means to archive some
important sequences (show openers,
credit sequences, company logos, etc)."

"I am
totally and truly thrilled about this
new software! QuadCam opens up a whole
new world for those who use (or would
like to use) multiple cameras for event
videography. It is so amazingly easy to
use providing such great results - this
will be a very hot item!
You
import your footage from two, three or
four cameras of the event into your
Casablanca. Then after QuadCam
automatically synchronizes (yes, you
heard that right!) these feeds, you play
back the event in a pop-up menu window.
Then it is a matter of selecting which
shot is 'live' by clicking on that feed.
QuadCam then builds the storyboard for
you with inserted shots from the
additional feeds. You can even go into
the storyboard and make adjustments to
the inserted shots to fine tune your
production!"

Disk Transfer brings great new
capabilities to your Casablanca II.
With Disk Transfer you select up to
20-minutes from any of your scene bins
to save to DVD as AVI files. This is a
great medium for archiving/backing up
key scenes (remember with the instant
scene function of SmartEdit 3 you can
make composite scenes of your company
logo, program opens, etc).
Disk transfer also provides a great
way to share program material between
Casablanca units as well as with PC/Mac
computers. You can take your program
elements, created on your Casablanca II
and save them to DVD, then bring them to
a colleague who can then download the
material onto their Mac/PC. Or you can
take animations or other materials from
your PC/Mac, save them as an AVI file
onto a DVD and then import that material
onto your Casablanca II via Disk
Transfer.
Disk Transfer also opens greater
efficiency for importing motion graphics
from some of the industry leaders. For
example you can put a Digital Hotcakes
DVD into your Casablanca DVD drive and
use Disk Transfer to download either one
motion animation or the entire disk at
once! (with Disk Transfer you have the
ability to import scenes either one at a
time or the entire DVD folder).

Xpress Maps

Xpress-Maps
offers special effects and a collection
of 81 high-quality maps in two versions
each, fully interacting with Casablanca.
The 3D version of the Xpress-Maps offers
a fantastic picture of the continents,
with mountains, deep oceans and colors
making the result look stunningly
realistic.
The 2D version
of the Xpress-Maps allows for a more
down-to-earth view of the countries, the
color of the seas/oceans and landscape
can be chosen by user. It is also
possible to combine 2D and 3D versions
of the maps.
The maps can me
modified using options for borders,
cities and city names which can be
enabled or disabled as you wish. The
most important and largest cities and
towns (more than 900) have been
accounted for with city-points.
